At that point the family lived at a smaller berg in the outlining area, known as Rice. The home was a little brown cottage with a white picket fence, nestled in a narrow valley and located just a few feet from a small stream. The yard had tiger lilies bordering the stream and large douglas fir trees in and around the yard. There was a 8'x10' root cellar in the back yard and on the north side of the house was a large garden area with a nice south facing slope.
